Nexuiz First-Person Shooter
First-Person Fragging
Nexuiz is a first-person shooter that is very similar to Quake. In fact, Nexuiz was originally created as a modification of the original Quake game, and has evolved into a completely new game of its own. The download size is a little hefty, weighing in around 600 megabytes, but Nexuiz is worth the download.
Great Gameplay
Nexuiz is, not surprisingly, a well-engineered game with great graphics and a decent soundtrack. This is one of the few complete open-source games that is not only playable, but actually completely enjoyable. There are few competitors that will rival Nexuiz, and it is definitely a game worth downloading. The video is extremely smooth and works well with a wide range of video cards. You can install the game on a dozen computers and create a LAN party without fumbling with CD keys!
Conclusion
Nexuiz fills a void in the open source community for a great first-person shooter that rivals retail games. If you are aware of another game that is as addictive and smooth-playing as Nexuiz, please let us know—we haven't found it yet.
