Create MP3s from Audio CDs

CDex is designed to extract the data from your audio CDs and save it in the format of your choice. For example, you can use this program to convert your music collection to files that are compatible with your MP3 player or your cell phone.

Many Supported Audio Formats

The CDex encoder can save the digital audio as a WAV file, MP3, OGG, WMA, and many other file formats, depending on your needs. Power users can also increase or decrease the resulting quality (which will result in a larger or smaller file depending on which encoding method you select).

Load Album Data and Track Names Automatically

The software can identify the disc you insert, and attempt to retrieve the album's artist and track names if available. CDex automatically names the extracted files and applies internal ID tags to reflect the track information. This can save you a considerable amount of time, as you won't have to search for titles and rename each extracted file, and your MP3 device can use this information during playback.

What We'd Change

When you insert a disc, prompt to automatically look up the disc information. If the user hasn't entered an email address for use with freedb, prompt them for it. Take care of these things with a friendly popup dialog so the user doesn't have to go hunting through the menus. It will make the software much more user-friendly, especially considering that 99.9999% of the time, this is precisely the procedure that each new user will have to plow through.
